The first ladies rankings tournament will take place this month on Tuesday the 24th at the Three Owls with registration at 5.30pm, & starting play at 6.00pm sharp. The registration fee is £10 per tournament, which will go towards reducing the costs of travel expenses for the National Squad.
This month's Ladies Rankings will put in place the new one frame round robin format using the standard Blackball Rules held on a monthly basis. All the players who register on the day will play one frame against each other scoring one point for each win. If a player wins all her frames then an additional 3 points will be awarded. The minimum entry is of 10 players so if all games have been won the minimum of points obtainable on the day is 9. However, if there are less than ten ladies entering, the rankings will not be held.
All points from each ranking will be accumulated and at the end of the year the top scorers will qualify for the Gibraltar National Ladies Squad to represent Gibraltar in international events.
Once a player has registered for the rankings, the player must commit to play at least 80% of her frames. Otherwise, if the player decides to leave before this mark, she forfeits all her games and the points are awarded to the ladies that remain.
Any female player interested can enter the rankings as long as she registers as a member with the GPA. However, the player does NOT have to be registered with a team in the league to be eligible to enter the rankings. To register with the GPA and to enter the rankings please speak to our committee member, Val Jarvis at the Three Owls and bring with you 2 passport photos, and £15 for the membership registration fee.
